Once a year the DB management team makes trip down to Cannon Beach in order to plan for the coming season and years to come. Naturally we're always sure to make some time to enjoy ourselves as well. Cannon Beach has a lot to offer and we were able to get in a solid amount of longboarding, skimboarding, surfing, bodyboarding and paddle boarding in just a couple short days!
We stayed near Haystack Rock, a 235 ft. sea stack and one of the most iconic parts of the Oregon coastline. Not to mention, a great place to skim and surf! Rising early before our meetings kicked in, Richard Docter (President and Co-Founder of DB) was able to get out for a skimboarding session near Haystack Rock and snagged some fun rides.
After our surf session we ventured back to the house to run through new board designs, marketing plans and other "business things." Following that we ventured down the beach at night to see if we could squeeze in some final rides. Luckily, the clouds cleared a little bit for us to capture some long exposure night photos of the starry sky and outgoing tides.
The next day we woke up and went straight into work in order to leave time to skate and skim in the afternoon. Accomplishing this, we hopped in the team van and quickly found some fun hills with scenic views right near Haystack Rock. The van came in handy for shuttle runs as we rotated driving duty and skating.
After a final few runs we ventured back to the beach to snag some skim on the shoreline before the drive back to Seattle.
Cannon Beach always delivers a succesful trip for both work and play. Until next year!
