Skimboard Spot Check: Richmond Beach Saltwater Park

Welcome to one of our skimboard spot checks a new feature on our website. This spot check features Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, which is located in Shoreline, Washington. It's is a pretty decent skimboard spot at certain tides and you can checkout more information and photos below.

The Richmond beach is a standard Pacific Northwest spot with a bridge over the train tracks that leads you to the beach. That is always nice since it's fairly easy to bring features from the parking lot to the beach.

The skimboarding at this spot is standard shoreline skim with a few sandbars after the tide has dropped to 1.5 feet.

Anything above 1.5 you will not be able to skim very well due to the rocky shoreline, but there are some rocky bankslides to be had it you don't mind scratching the base of your skimboard.

This skimboard spot also features a point about half a mile down from the bridge that allows someone to skim at a 2-foot or lower tide.

When we were at the beach one other skimboarder did show up, but the majority of the beach was full of families and people cooling off in the water.

When boats pass by small waves appear that are fun to boost off of and/or throw some spray off of.

The sand bars are pretty fun and are the best part of the beach. Great for throwing shuvs and setting up a feature on. Although if you do bring a feature you will need to move with the tide or dig out a skim pit.

All in all Richmond Beach is a great skim spot for all riders. It offers easy access to the beach and is only skimable at fairly low tides. You can find a map and directions to the skim spot below.
